29 Acknowledgments
The ideas in this book are mostly old virtues recombined, which means they were learned from other people: the open-source maintainers who built the commodity layer this book builds upon; the QA reviewers and validation engineers whose healthy skepticism shaped every chapter’s tests; the statistical programmers whose decades of careful manual double programming defined the gold standard this book merely proposes to industrialize; and the colleagues, users, and correspondents who argued with the drafts — correctly, as it turned out — until the principles said what they meant.
Errors that survived the arguing are the author’s alone.
